I feel like Essentials should incorporate more than basics. Much of this came naturally to me without a lesson. A demo reel with stock footage only shows that you recognize good, visually appealing clips. I would have preferred more clarity on the types of shots you want to film and include, before sitting down for the edit. But I can appreciate adding the music and SFX to my library.
